Possible to link GamersGate Mass Effect to Steam? any benfit?

So I was browsing steamgamesales.com and saw that mass effect and mass effect 2 were 75% off on GamersGate (expires in two hours)

Wasn't after I purchased it when I wondered to myself if I'm going to be missing out on stuff because I didn't get it through Steam...

Am I? And if so can I link them to Steam afterwards?

You are not missing out on anything. Mass Effect is the same regardless of where you get it.

It's the same game where ever you get it. Not missing anything, plus you can just use the option add a game if you want to use the steam ui in game. I say go for it, me2 is a pretty good game. Never played the first one but a friend of mine says it's really good.

So I finally was able to install it. Unfortunately it won't work with the Steam Tile app, which I use and really like.
