I remember my first pc, had it as a gift for my birthday. It was a 386 upgraded to a 486 with 8 gb of ram and a 2 or 3 gb hard, sound blaster, a really huge crt monitor black and white and i was using an external modem with dial-up connection for internet and i remember always arguing with my parents for the telephone bill.
also, my first ever game played on a pc was volfied and it continues to be one of my favorite old-games
now i'm sorry that i didn't take at least one picture of "the beast", but i will always remember it as my first introduction to internet and of course, i'll be laying if i didn't admit it (i'm sure all of us also know it), free p0rn

so, long live Microsoft for making the pc available to all the planet and a huge glass of ice-cold beer goes to Tim Berners for inventing the Internet and not least a bigger glass of ice-cold beer for the Google "brainiacs", in a few words, it's like this: " U rule guys...!"

Haha... I think that was meant to be 8mb of RAM. Lol.

Kinda reminds me of our first PC... While it wasn't the first computer I owned myself, it was the first in our family. 286-33MHz (if I remember correctly, 25MHz with a turbo button), 4mb SD-RAM, floppy drive, and a yellowish/greenish kinda hercules monitor. That monitor was so bad, it kept glowing for 20 minutes after it was turned off! Lol... I don't remember the rest of the specs. However, of all those parts, I still have the motherboard somewhere I think..... I'll see if I can find a pic tonight and show you.

First computer I owned myself though, it was a 486-DX4 100MHz with 12mb RAM (6 slots, 2x 4mb, 4x 1mb), a 512kb VESA graphics card (added this so I could play Destruction Derby), 40mb HDD, and two floppy drives. Oh yeah, and it ran on DOS 3 or 4 I think. I sort of killed it one day when I tried to install Windows 95.... I tried to OC the CPU, and ended up frying it at 166MHz. I should've just left it at 133MHz, that worked fine.

My first 3 computers....


The first one was a kit... (Weighed about 40 pounds, too)




The second one was an Exidy Sorcerer...



Worked with the Victor 9000 as a service tech...





Then the PC came out and well, here I am, all these years later... still messing with the same old crap (LOL).

The oldest computer that is still in use with me is an Intel Dot Station.
It came with a Celeron processor, 10GB HDD, and 128MB RAM.
Its upgraded to 40GB HDD and 512MB RAM and external CD Writer running Windows XP.



PS. Everything (Motherboard, HDD, ...) is in one unit.

I can't remember my first computer's model (I got it around when I was 6, so about 9 years ago), but it had around ~800 megabytes of hard drive space, 128 megabytes of ram, no CD drive, and ran Windows 95. Can't remember processor specs. Lol

The earliest computer I know the model for was a Dell Optiplex GX-1 with a 6 gig hard drive (my first computer with a 1Gig+ HDD), 128 mb RAM, which I upgraded to 386, and a ~500Mhz processor. I got it about 2 years ago, and still use it for storage.

That reminds me of my first "gaming computer"... Back in the day it was pretty awesome, but looking back now I wonder how I survived with it. Lol. AMD K6-2 500MHz CPU, 192MB DDR-400 or DDR-333 RAM (128+64), 6.4GB WD HDD, and a NVidia Riva TNT2 M64 with 32MB VRAM. Those were the days.... I'll never forget getting that card, suddenly I could run Quake 2 without anymore graphical glitches. Hehe..

Does anybody here remember the old Comodore 64? Now that was an interesting and exciting time in personal computing! I spent hours on that thing when my dad bought one... I don't even remember how old I was.

Commodore Business Machines introduced the Commodore 64 computer in January 1982 at a price of $595. This was an enhancement of the earlier VIC 20 with 64K RAM and a 6510 processor. This machine went on to become the best selling computer of all time, lasting until 1993 and selling 17 to 22 million units. Commodore announced the above SX-64 portable version of the Commodore 64 in January 1983. This was the first portable computer on the market with a color display, and was essentially identical to the regular C64 except for the lack of a cassette interface. In 1986 the GEOS operating system (for Graphic Environment Operating System) was released for the Commodore 64, which incredibly gave the 64K machine a GUI like the Macintosh and Amiga.


I still have one of these Sx-64's in perfect running condition !

Apparently we had a VIC 20 before the Commodore, but (obviously) with me only being born in '85, I don't remember the VIC at all.. We had the Commodore a good few years later, somewhere around the early/mid '90s if I remember correctly.

I still have one of these Sx-64's in perfect running condition !

I envy you... I'd love to play around on one of those again. Haven't seen one in many years..

My first PC (I think it was 1985) was an Amstrad CPC 464 (in my sig) with a monitor that could display 27 colours! It ran on a 4MHz CPU and 64kB RAM (I remember upgrading to 576kB and was sooo excited!) It also had a built in cassette tape for loading games. All my friends had commodore 64's so I was a bit of a legend having the first external floppy drive.

I didn't have or need a turbo button on my amstrad. With all that RAM it was lightening fast already :roflmao:
