Nice overclock but did you underclock your HT by a full gigahertz?

So, after days of fighting with a Phenom II x3 740 Black Edition, I managed to work a deal with a friend of mine and get me a Athlon 6000+ Brisbane to replace my 5400+. XFX tech support is, well, not very supportive on a good day, and my motherboard doesn't seem to want to play nicely with any Phenom II chips...

I've lost a bit on my memory speeds, but the 6000+ doesn't seem to like 220MHz core speed... I haven't played with any voltages yet, might do that over the weekend if I have some free time. But for the moment, at least I'm up from 3.1GHz to just over 3.3GHz:

I like how you arranged those windows.

Thought I would test my cpu to find the "wall"

Seems to be 5.1ghz , which I might add is totally stable.

Requires alot of voltage though.

Frio does a great job keeping it cool at this speed and voltage , hit 82c after 10 mins of prime.

Hi Jeepman , tbh I find it too dam easy to clock these new sandybridge cpu's its far too straight forward.

I think they all vary alot on what voltage they need to hit high overclocks , mine needs 1.36 iirc to be stable at 4.6ghz , 1.46 for 5ghz and 1.5 for 5.1ghz , its far too much voltage to be chucking at it for a 24/7 in my eyes , but certainly interesting to see how far they can go.

I read a review earlier where they achieved a 5.1ghz oc with 1.46v so like I say it certainly varies.

Shame I hit a wall at 5.1 , would post but couldn't get into windows at 5.2ghz no matter what.

All good fun till ya fry it lol.

As most people say , if you can't afford to replace it , don't do it. If you can then knock yourself out :D

Paul.

Yes it is very easy to oc these chips...highest I've tried was [email protected] if I remember right but did not stress test it ....It did boot fine and ran it for about an hour playing mp3's and web hunting(forgot I put it that high...lol) I'll try again here in a day or two see what I can hit(& get snips of)

I seen a review, can't remember which one but they hit 5.2@aound 1.5v on air.

Mine is [email protected] Stable 24/7 so maybe I can hit [email protected] and boot...It's a lot of volts!! Kinda nervous..

Ok well I gave it a go....I'll post a few pics, each will be a different OC.
Now I will first say that I was just trying to see at what OC speeds I could boot at and idle while watching temps, I did open some programs and play mp3's, open browsers. I ran IntelBurnTest on the first one at standard settings.

I AM BY NO MEANS CALLING THESE STABLE.

Still did not hit a wall for booting up and getting into Windows, I stopped at the last one because of the high volts.
I will fine tweak them at a later time to try for stable.

No no no, It is spelled right the "H" is just silent ;)

Yup I sure did spell "were" wrong..:o I noticed it as I uploaded the pics but that was after I did all the testing and after I put it back to stock settings. I was not going to redo all of it. I figured I would just blame it on living in the mid-west.

Seems I got one of the "Golden Ones". I don't think I can get the 5.4 or 5.5 oc's stable with the high volts & temp it will take(imo). I just do not have the cooling for it right now.
Do you or anyone else know what the MAX temp & volts are for the I7-2600k? I searched but keep seeing different answers. I've seen from mid 80's to 100 (85c+-100c)

Tcase is 72.6°C, the CPU case add 5°C for the core temps (Tjunction) is 77.6°C.

That's the first Intel CPU spec sheet I've seen that didn't have a max CPU voltage listed.
