No the Virtu software is not installed.
If you're not using the iGPU you can always set initate IGPU to disabled in the BIOS.
Well I have I think good news. .

Fingers crossed that nailed it
You stirred a long-dormant memory from my past....The thing with Asus boards that good ones are great and the bad ones are rage inducing...
Back in the Socket 7 Days I spent about six months wrestling with an ASUS A7V. It would have actually been better if it had been a total loser, since I would have wasted less time with it than I did. It had a remarkable knack for running fine for weeks, then going on a three-day crapfest. If a motherboard could behave like a binge-drinking alcoholic, this was it.
lol, that boards sounds like my P5Q Pro. The first one had bad dimm slots. The replacement just had a 'gremlin'.
Similar deal, it would be stable for X amount of time, passed multiple 50+ IBT, 24hr P95 and memtest runs and then go on a BSOD rampage for a few days and then go back to being stable. Rinse repeat. It sent me wild at times.
Only ever happened when overclocking though. Now it's a 24/7 machine at stock speeds and 99% BSOD free.
You're right about preferring it to be a dud straight away. To this day I never did nail the exact problem it had.
My P6X58D premium was a good board from the get go and my current P8Z68 has been good to me so far too.
The only minor niggle I have with it is that every now then on a cold boot or restart, it fails to initialize the drives which needs a quick reset and it's all good. I suspect it has something to do with the RAID, or the controller.
One upside to a bad board / components is that it makes you appreciate it when you finally get a good combo
