Here's my system monitor gadget that works with core temp.

I can not get that gadget to work for crap!! I downloaded that Dev's. whole lot and everything else works great but that one.
I try to install, it goes through the process but doesn't show up on desktop or in the gadget gallery!

Jeepman, have you tried this one? I have used it on my last several builds. Core temp has to be running, and you have to go into the settings to set it to read temps and such.

That is the exact one I'm talking about not working for me.(the one in your pic too I believe) I downloaded almost all(16) of them on that page to try them out they all work but that one "System Monitor II". I have no idea why!?! I just tried it again from your link but still a no go.

Good OC, but I'm wondering about the FSB @ 134.99, it was my understanding it couldn't be raised but one or two Hz? Is that a feature id the E series CPUs?

You mean 124.99 dont you?

With the SB-E and X79 boards you have Strapping, for example.

Sandy Bridge Clocking:
Remember with the Sandy Bridge processors the formula was CPU multiplier x Reference Clock = CPU frequency; example: 45 x 100HMz = 4500MHz.
Sandy Bridge Extreme Clocking:
Now with the coarse ratio multiplier we have a new formula available if you decide to use one of the Straps, remember, 1.00x, 1.25x, 1.67x and 2.50x
CPU Multiplier x Reference Clock Ratio x Reference Clock = CPU Frequency
Example 1: [32x] x [1.25x] x [100MHz] = [4000MHz]
Example 2: [24x] x [1.67x] x [100MHz] = [4008MHz]

The bus is set to 125MHz and the CPU strap is set to 125MHz also.

The only limit that I found was that you can only go 20MHz higher then the CPU strap.

Im loving it right now.

Yeah, fat fingers. Thanks for the info. Strap, another term to have to explain, instead of them calling something like FSB multiplier. Or Base Clock Increaser.

Did a new overclock with the ram and got it from 1866 to 2266.

I have way to much time on my hands!

Gary, good start, it's just stretching it's legs at that speed lol. I would advise against turbo mode as it always tends to give more voltage than is actually needed. I expect 5.2ghz before the end of the day

Being used to AMD, I have no idea how to make it run at one speed all day.
she got up to 68 running IBT on max too.

If your cpu is anything like mine then once you have it all set up correctly it will run at 4.6ghz with a similar vcore to what you have right now on turbo.

One issue that I am having is that I can run prime for 6 hours and still stable then run a memtest for 6 hours stable then play a game and still stable open IE9 blue screen. Not sure why. Passes all of the test but when it comes to going online...

1.65v with current at 120% (1.7v does not fix the issue) so I am not really pushing it that hard. If I could find out whats going on I would run it at that speed normally. By the way that ram over clock is stable 100% on my Mac side. I have 2 hackatoshes and this is one of them.

Did you bump the IMC voltage?
Should be at 1.15v or a little more.

This is my overclock with the following settings:

All CPU features are enabled (Turbo boost, SpeedStep, C3, C6, C1E states)
CPU voltage is set to auto
Internal PLL overvoltage enabled
VTT 1.129V
VRAM 1.530V
All other voltages set to default
LLC is set to 1
CPU spread spectrum disabled
BLK set to 100

This is 24H prime and 3Dmark stable, max 78C. Note that because the CPU voltage is set to auto and Speedstep is enabled, the system is running idle or light task (internet browsing) at 1.6Ghz 0.975V.
