My longest ever was about 30 days, a few years ago on XP.

I've had Vista for up over 50 days straight. I can't get it that high for Win7 because I keep installing newer builds.

I do a full shutdown every night usually, don't see the point in leaving it on when I'm sleeping.

Hi all
OK not a Windows machine but my Home Linux server has been running currently for 249 days 7 hours 4 minutes since last boot.


The Green Party will hate it but one thing that IS plentiful here is Geothermal Electricity - so I just leave the server running all the time unless I upgrade the hardware. I can even "Hot plug" disks if I need to change disk configuration.

This is my secondary machine. 20 days! Stable as can possibly be, with my family members using...now that says a lot!

On a side note, I had to clean my psu fan last night on my main machine because it started making a whirling noise. Such the brilliant person I am, I replaced it backwards and now I have heat flying all inside my case.

Ya, I should fix this soon. Ya think? lol

I don't leave my workstations up when I am not using them or won't be using them in the near future. Servers on the other hand, I generally tend to leave online..but I don't run a farm of servers out of my home. At my previous job I had 1 Linux machine that ran for about 600 days without a reboot. But the motherboard died.

I have to admit that I have already uptime ~14 days on my Windows 7 machine and I haven't noticed any negative impact of it - I mean no slow downs, no lags, everything works very stable and smooth so far. I put my computer every night in sleep or hibernate mode - thats it.
I remember also that with Windows XP after ~3days of uptime my system noticeably slows down, with Windows 7 it's gone.

Well I switch off every night and turn on again each morning, being on a meter for electric I'm not paying for something to be on while I'm in bed, plus there's the fire hazard as well to consider.

I used to leave my PC on 24x7. But these days, these boxes just suck so much power when they run that I shut them off. And with newer hardware and SSD drives, I'm booted and ready to go from a power on in about 30 seconds.

Ya I hear that. I have older machines so power consumption is not too much of a problem.

The reason I leave them both on 24x7 is because I constantly access files on one of the machines when I'm using the other. And on the slower of the two, the boot time is rather long.
