Hello, I have a hard drive here that suddenly stopped working. It is a Western Digital Scorpio Black WE3200BEKT 320GB 2.5" internal laptop hard drive. The computer started to behave oddly and wouldn't respond, so it was shut down using the power button. Upon turning it on, the computer displayed the typical "Windows was not shut down correctly," but after trying to bypass that, the computer displayed something along the lines of "no system disk found, press any key." This screen wouldn't go away. Upon running the built in hard drive test, the utility couldn't find any disks.
I took out the drive and plugged it into my sata to USB adapter. The drive spun up but Windows could not recognize it, nor could any disk utility. It seems like the drive has failed.
What could have caused this, and what can be done to recover the data on the drive? Thanks!
