Power failure during external disc encryption with BitLocker

So I had the power go off while I was running bitlocker (to go?) on my external hdd.
I was not able to pause it before this happened.
I was also running BL on an internal drive.

Both were interrupted.
I was able to resume and finish the internal drive.
I was Not able to resume the external.

The BL application just stop responding when I try to resume/unlock the disk.
It also seems I can't restart the machine normally when BL is trying to unlock the drive.

I read somewhere on the ms support site that even with power failure, resuming is possible.
This might have only applied to an internal drive.
I do recall seeing the pause button for the external, with a note that I needed to pause to stop in case of data corruption or something like that.

Is there a way to recover my external?

Thoughts:
Do I need to let the program "not respond" for the same time or maybe longer than the time it spent encrypting it?
Could I remove the drive and make it an internal?

my computer is rubbish, the only good thing about it is that it has cost me nothing to build as i have salvaged the components from freinds, everything including the monitor was free gratis!
I took the external out of the enclosure and connected it via usb through a different device. Windows does not see the drive nor does disk management.

My next step is to make it an internal drive - will post here with results.

After installing the drive as an internal, a few things changed.

Now, when I go to unlock the drive, BitLocker doesn't stop responding. Instead, after about a minute or so, I get the message: "The semaphore timeout period has expired"

I can click the "I forgot my password" lick and enter in the Recovery Key, but it says it is not correct and to try again.

Also, Disk Management is now able to see the drive.
It looks like I could format it and atleast be able to use it again...

I found an article that I think I need to try next, but atm I do not have a drive of equal or larger size.
Scenario 16: Using the BitLocker Repair Tool to Recover a Drive

This all stemmed from my desire to give Origin the finger so I could install and play BattleField3.

An alternative method to using a virtual machine, external hdds, or reformatting.

I simply locked out all the data areas I don't think EA needs to snoop.

I made it so I can just right-click relock the drive instead of restarting my computer each time.

my affected drive is 300G, i do have a half TB drive but it has 400G of movies on it, i do also have several smaller drives ranging 120G to 80G so i think if i do a bit of shuffeling aroung i may be able to empty my drive and try the method in the article you posted.

stay tuned as i will keep you informed of the result when i have compleated the tranfer of data.

i have managed to find 300G between my laptop, netbook and spare harddrives, as i type this i am creating a partition on my 500G to accomodate the 300G of data to transfer (i hope a partition works and i dont need the whole drive to be empty) i will post results as they happen.

hey guys... need help !

I have a 1TB external HDD with external power supply. I was trying to encrypt the drive but the power to the HDD was disconnected. I immediately connected to power supply but now it asks for a password but does not open. It just stays on the same screen and after a while it goes into "Not Responding" state.
I was using Win 7 Ultimate. I have around 800GB data in it and really want to recover it.
I have searched the net but no concrete solution to this yet. Let me know any more details are needed.
Thanks in advance.

(UPDATE)

Now, I have a Win7 home premium. The Windows ultimate is on other machine.
