Printer - Can I connect USB to computer and wirelessly to Others

Not sure if this is the correct sub-forum.
I just installed a newrouter and set up my new network. My Windows 7 desktop is connected to the routervia ethernet.

My Windows 7 desktop isconnected to the printer via USB. So, the drivers are already on the desktop computer.

When I was using my oldrouter, the desktop, laptops, phones were connected to the printer wirelessly, but I have nowchanged the SSID and Network security password.

Can I keep it that way?- USB connect the desktop to the printer, but have other devices connect to theprinter wirelessly?

How do I do that? ShouldI uninstall the network printer? Reinstall the drivers?

Yes, I'm doing that with my setup here. Brother inkjet connected via USB to my Lenov Desktop. Laptop connects wireless and my other desktop via Ethernet. All work great.

In short:
- Connect printer to the new Wireless Network
- check if other computers will see and print to it.
- if not, adjust the IP address of printer (assign static or DHCP reservation) to be the same as before if you remember
- test
- if not, remove network printer from PCs and re-add it

I was able to install it both ways. My thought was that if the router goes down, I can still scan and print.

I don't think it will work when router is down.

You could still print from the computer the printer is connected to via USB.
