Printer not detecting ink cartridge

Hi i recently bought a
HP Photosmart C4640 All-in-One Printer

and i have been getting issues with it.
whenever i try to print the screen on the printer displays
"Print Cartridge(s) missing or not detected"

The ink cartridges i add are brand new and are HP cartridges that are compatible with the photosmart C4640.

Does any one know what i should do.

the driver is install well on your system?

Hi Manvir,
may be you didn't remove protective tape on cartridge or didn't properly seat the cartridge.

Thank you guys for the replies.

I did install a driver on here but i remember i had to install a different one because i have a new laptop with Windows 7 so the original driver that it came with did not work.
I had help from richc46 on installing the driver but it took me multiple tries.

I printer has started working now all of a sudden but when i add a new color ink cartridge i will print only a few times and then it will stop detecting my color ink cartridge.
