Problem detecting Clear QAM

The Avermedia is a single connected, and it does NTSC and ATSC but not Clear QAM.

It is the Pinnacle 801e that I expect to get HD.

I am able to get analog signals on both.

Sorry, the pic of your model I found showed 2 coax inputs... just like mine. I was under the impression that you had tried the Pinnacle as a 2nd resort.

Hmmmm.... both tuners in the same machine at same time, or different pcs?

If it is the same PC @ same time, I'd try just the Pinnacle buy itself, remove the Avermedia and try it. <--- It might be some strange device conflict... it only takes a few screws (unless you have a tooless case... like mine) lol! Worth a shot!

Also, did you install either tuner card manufacturers own supplied tuner software (other than drivers), or are you only using WMC tuner?

A little history.

I actually bought the Pinnacle after I installed my Swann PC-DVR card, because the Avermedia quit working. I assumed an interrupt conflict, and I didn't dig too deeply, because when I looked and saw I could get a USB stick with HD I bought it. I ended up not liking the software, and since Vista MC wouldn't do HD, I quit.

I later installed the card again and it worked. I assumed I must have put the cable back onto the wrong connector... I figured the other one was for TV Out, like a VCR...

Now, I just looked closer at the description at Gateway, and it never mentions dual tuner, but one is labeled as CATV and the other ATSC in the diagrams. It is marked strictly TV on the card. The install poster says of the one labeled as CATV... Connect a coaxial cable (not included) from a video device to the TV jack on your computer. Can anyone validate that I am on track in my original assumption that this is a TV out???

Anyway, once I moved to Windows 7, I decided to try the Pinnacle stick again... and that is where I am.

I am beginning to wonder if the scan of the digital cable is being performed with my Avermedia, which doesn't recognize Clear QAM... or does Media Center scan all frequencies with both tuners? I think I will do as you suggest, and pull out my Avermedia and see whether a scan finds my HD stations.

That's what I'd do to eliminate the possiblities!

Keep us informed please.

OK... After I deinstalled everything, and adding everything in different orders it still didn't work.

However, I finally found the solution. I finally went in to manually edit channels in the guide, and once I activated the channels that were listed there and didn't show a padlock, I am able to view HD.

An interesting phenomenon, I manually added channel 104.1 and there was already a 104.1, and now they are both displayed, and show different stations. One seems to be the same as my HD Television, and one is different. In the program guiide I see two 104.1's

Now I just need to keep up and make sure I am seeing everything I should, label them and set the listings as a copy of the non-HD channels.
