problem getting back to homepage from any website

hi when I look at a web page almost any site when I go back with my mouse or using the back button it stays on the site I am on and will not move?

What browser are you using?
Is this browser specific, if you try other browsers do the same thing happen?

hi Jamie it seems internet explorer is the problem but to be fair I have just started using chrome, it has done it for quite along time

In Internet Explorer do you have any toolbars or addons running that could be causing this?
Maybe try disabling / removing addons/toolbars.

Verify the process,
Change your home page in Internet Explorer - Microsoft Windows Help
Are you using the Home icon on the top right ?
Right click the Backwards button and see what is listed and your most likely see which sites are in the way of the Backwards function,
