Problem installing the latest version of DirectX 9

Good morning,

Whenever I try to update my Direct X using the DirectX End-User Runtime I get the following error :

"An internal system error occured. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine problem".

Where do I go about finding these files ?

PS

I know this is Win 7 forums, however I thought I could get help with Vista here as well.


Thanks in advance. :)

Also, I reformatted my system today and reinstalled Windows and all of my drivers.

I am baffled ?

you are running windows 7 it comes with dx11 already installed. this is most likely why you are getting errors trying to install dx9.

Actually I am running Vista Home Premium, I just mentionned that in my post :p

Actually I am running Vista Home Premium, I just mentionned that in my post :p

i caught that after i posted. vista post sp1 should already have dx9c installed. you could try downloading and installing dx10.

edit: have you check the two logs mentioned in the error message?

i caught that after i posted. vista post sp1 should already have dx9c installed. you could try downloading and installing dx10.

it is a microsoft update. if it is not necessary it should simply be telling you update already installed, or if you have newer it should tell you your files are newer. there is something else going on here. i personally have never had a problem with dx so i am truly at a loss here.

Thought it might. For whatever reason the web installer is buggy and will work no problem for some, but others will get the same thing you did.
