When downloading a USB Display Adapter driver software for the first time,
DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows* V7.6 M0
I am recieving 1 repeating (11) Error message - Could not write value MirrorDriver to key \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DisplayLinkGA\Device 1. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key.
I have assigned permissions to all registry keys to everyone
uninstalled, rebooted & reinstalled a number of times, unfortunately same error message.
Appreciate any ideas please

Have you rightclicked the extracted .exe file for the driver installer to Run as Administrator?

If so try browsing from the Device listing in Device Manager to the extracted driver file to install the driver: Driver Install - Device Manager

Many thanks gregrocker for your reply,
I ran as administrator the extracted .exe file for the driver installation program as you recommended, unfortunately it resulted in the same error message.
I also in Device Manager attempted to extract the driver file to install from the device with the following result.. Update Driver Software / search automatically for updated driver software / Windows found driver software for your device but encounter an error while attempting to install / DisplayLink Display Adapter (0199) / Access denied.
Some additional information, I installed the USB adapter & driver on my lap top (Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit) same operating system, with no problems all working perfectly. Also with the desk top that I am trying to install the device on I recently completed a clean reinstall of all systems & applications, including all Windows updates.
Any further recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot extract a file in the Device Manager. I wrote to browse to the extracted file, not Search Automatically.

It sounds like something has been tweaked causing permission errors since this would not happen with a normal installation, especially after a Clean Reinstall. I would follow the steps to do a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 and nothing else.

Otherwise this may be a known issue with the adapter so I'd contact the maker's Tech Support which is included with any hardware for the first year.

I have had no response from the makers tech support so far. I will take your advice ("I would follow the steps to do a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 and nothing else.") as I can see this is likely to be a ongoing issue.
I sincerely thank you again gregrocker for all your assistance.

Success, I just had a recommendation to install the driver in clean boot state, and it worked, all up and running now, what a relief. This is the first time I have had such a frustrating issue and tried to solve it on my own, I cant belief the time, online support and assistance given by guys like yourself to a complete stranger. Your helping to make the world a better place. Keep up the great work.

We're glad to help you. Keep us posted how it goes. :geek:

The steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 include running Win7 with a Clean Boot at all times, with only the AV starting up with Windows for best performance. Be sure to look them over again as you'll keep a perfect install to the exact extent you stick with those tools and methods.
