Problem searching for files in windows 7 that contain dates

I need to search through files on a windows 7 PC which contain dates in format dd-mm-yyyy, if i wanted to find the date 09-12-1981 it would birng up all the results containing that date but it would also bring up files containing 12-09-1981 in the file name. Another problem is that if i searched 09/09/1981 it would bring up everything in all the dates from 01-09-1981 - 31-09-1981. Is there anyway i can fix this?
