Windows 7 Search Not Searching For Files

Hi i wonder if anyone can help with this. I have recently had a new hard drive fitted in my laptop and after a week or two getting the thing back to i like it, i've found an annoying problem.

When i do a search in Windows all i get in the results is programs and control panel items, there are no files or folders appearing in the results.

Obviously ive tried Googling this problem but can't find anythig specifically along these lines.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Are you talking about searching for files by file name?

Or what?

Give some examples of what you might be searching for and what you might type into a search box.

I used to be able to search for a specific AAC or doc file for example. I cant seem to get any of those solutions to work im afraid.

Are you searching by file name?

Yes or no.

If yes, there is a much quicker, simple, and reliable tool available if you are willing to use it.

It is "Everything", a free download from voidtools.com.

It searches ONLY by file name. About as fast as you can type a search term.

Yes sorry, I'm searching for files by name. Ok will look into that thanks, I'm just bugged as to why it no longer works in Windows.
