I have 2 EVGA GTX570HDs, I want to run them in SLI on my XFX 790i Ultra SLI Motherboard. i have qx9650 and 4gigs of ram. I just reinstalled windows 7 ultimate clean install. But windows 7 isnt seeing the 2nd Video card. On top of that when i activate 2 monitors which ever is my primary screen ( with start menu and all) will flicker while the 2nd screen is flicker free. When i go back to one monitor ( either of them) it doesnt flicker at all.

Sir your issue is not a "Windws 7" issue per se but eithier a driver or hardware issue. Windows 7 is more than capable of allowing SLI/Crossfire configurations to run.

You need to check that the second card is working, the drivers are properly configured, the card is properly fitted in the slot, and that the card is getting power.

Both Cards are getting power. I Tested both card individually in the one slot. I also test the slot the im using the 2nd video card in by inserting a x8 PCIe Raid card from Promise in it. Boots up and is recognized. So its not the motherboard or the video cards. both cards are getting 4 seperate 6 pin cables straight from the power supply.

This is a windows issue not a driver issue. its a fresh install.

If it was a windows issue there would be hordes of people with your card configuration complaining.

You are actually the first I've seen with this problem.

I ran to xfx's website to check on your board model and the first thing I saw when attempting to log in was

Check your refresh rates for both monitors and try switching the refresh rate of the monitor that's flickering.

Thanks but when this thread moves to another page your system specs will be hidden/lost. That's why I posted this..... Please see this tutorial on filling out system specs

And you might want to visit some of the Nvidia forums to see if your issue has been reported there and a solution found.

Hi...update your Bios...also I had a 780i motherboard for a while (EVGA), SLI capable..It, like yours (if memory serves me correctly) uses a Nvidia chipset, which were notorious for running very hot.
I'd check to make sure its not a cooling issue if everything is connected/powered properly.

Actually I'd just get rid of the motherboard and replace it with w/e board does'nt use that chipset but thats your call.

BTW Windows Seven has no issues with SLI at all..I'm running 2x GTX 460's in SLI and have no problems with Windows seeing both cards. SO it is NOT the OS..cheers
