Problem with running games on Sony HDTV

Hi,

I upgraded my Graphics Card to a Radeon HD 4350 as my motherboard onboard graphics card was old and wasn't supported in Windows 7.

I have a 50 inch Sony LCD TV. I have extended the display to show on the tv and the monitor.

My problem is that whenever I try and play older games on my PC the monitor the TV automatically kicks into VGA mode, full screen but blurred to hell, the monitor displays the game perfectly but I want the benefit to play my games on my large screen Sony TV.

My settings for the Sony TV are 1920 x 1080. I guess the TV kicks into VGA mode as the games were meant to run in VGA originally and the resolution of my TV is too high.

I have downloaded Powerstrip but I don't know if that could help solve the issue and I don't really understand how to use it.

I also downloaded Dxwnd and managed to run some of my games full screen without any switch to VGA mode. It doesn't work on all of my games but I guess it's better than nothing.

Can I do anything about it this or is it just not possible to run older games on a large display?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If the older games don't support the resolution then you're going to have blur/blocks. There are certain third party additions you can use to modify this but if the game doesn't support the resolution then you're probably out of luck.

Can you point me in the right direction of these third party additions or are they game specific?

I have a game called Barrow Hill (probably lame by today's standards) but I would love to play this full screen.

The lost crown and darkfall are the others that run in a specific resolution that wont run without switching to VGA and blurring the display.

I use a 40" Bravia, I have a new pc connected to the TV's PC input. (15 pin) Its an analog connect so you do not get the HDTV experience, but it is still dam nice pic. I play older games. I have a 2nd pc connected to same TV via S-video to RGB adapter. This works nicely as well, giving me an HDTV pic. It will play older games.
When I tried connecting newer pc to the TV's HDMI input, I got issues. Would not load older games!
I use nVidia, you use ATI, so I conclude its about the newer hardware not playing nicely. I say this because my older pc was connected to the TV's, PC and HDMI inputs at same time. Cloned mode and it worked fine. Same setup will not function with new pc.?????????????????????
