Hi ,
I have a problem with my laptop. I am not really good at computers - not familiar with what files are important and what not. Here's my situation: By mistake, I went to "AppData" folder by viewing Hidden Files. I was coming out of the folder by pressing "BackSpace" to go back, and pressed "Delete" key. My recycle bin is empty and all my .exe files have turned to .lnk files. I can't open any Icons and all the programs are running in a notepad file. I looked online and downloaded a software called "Recuva" to recover files. It recovered a lot of files with weird names - that I don't acknowledge. My icons are still in .lnk style, and it seems to me that those recovered files are useless. I tried to run System Backup but it doesn't let me; and neither does Repair Install. I don't want to lose any of my files and data, and do not wish to create another Administrator. Please help!

I am confused with this link above and don't know if that's the correct solution to my problem or not. Still seeking for help and assistance.

Glad you were able to figure it out for yourself.

I have seen so many other inexperienced users make mistakes just like this one.

There is a reason why those files are hidden. They are usually critical to the proper operation of any Win OS and having them hidden helps to prevent mistakes like yours.

Friendly advice, if you don't know much about Windows or computers BEFORE you start to utilize features like these make sure you ASK a MS Win expert like those here on Win 7 forums FIRST. You will save yourself a LOT of hassle if not a destroyed system. They are indicated with avatars underneath their screen names. Usually the gurus are the most experienced.
