Problems installing optical drive.

I have a new 21.5" Imac i have installed windows 7 on it. I have an external Lacie D2 dvd drive that i have installed and it shows up as drive D: in computer. The internal dvd drive in the Imac doesn't show up. How do I get this drive to show up in computer?

Does the drive appear in the bios
If it doesnt check all connectors and leads to the drive

Update your Bootcamp drivers, Apple just released them.

I Installed bootcamp version 3.1 update, and late 2009 imac windows 7 drivers. my internal drive still doesn't show up in computer. I don't know if this makes a difference or not but I didn't use bootcamp to load windows 7 on my imac, i used parrallels desktop 5.

You should have said that in the first place...
You need to check in Parallels, specially in the "Storage" part to make it "mount" your optical drive. Read the user manual. By default I don't think Parallels will automatically use optical drives...

Here is where I am at now. I was able to go into Parallels and swiched drive D: from my my external DVD drive to my internal imac DVD drive. Windows 7 still would not recognize both drives, now it only recognized the internal drive as drive D:. The external DVD drive can connect by Firewire or USB, I had it connected by firewire, I connected it by USB and Windows 7 recognized it as drive E:. So Far so good. Now I need to find out how too get windows 7 to recognize it as drive E: when connected by Firewire. Can anybody help with that?

When you connect your devices, Parallels should have a "list", find that list, and tell Parallels that you want "this device" to be connected to Windows 7. You need to understand, you are running Windows 7 under virtualization, it means that Windows 7 is not running on your Mac's hardware directly, it's running on top this Parallels software, this Parallels software will provide Windows 7 the hardware it can "see". So, whatever hardware you want to "plug" into Windows 7, you need to tell Parallels that "this hardware" have to connect to Windows 7.
