Problems keeping wireless internet connection

I moved to another state a month ago and had to get new internet service, before then my laptop was running fine but as soon as I got new net it started disconnecting constantly. I thought it was my service but no other laptop in our house is having a problem and I called them and all was fine on their end. I've tried searching forums and the internet and I've done countless "fixes" but nothing has helped. I'm running Windows 7 x64 and my service provider is Xfinity (comcast). My computer will disconnect from the internet (yellow warning triangle over the internet signal icon in toolbar) and stay off until I reset through troubleshooting. This will happen sometimes not for hours and sometimes a few times a minute and I'm not sure what left to try. When I trouble shoot I get this:

I just finished those checks and they returned nothing, everything was fine or nothing was found. I've done a system restore when it first started happening and also again last week and I've updated my drivers as well. Any other ideas at all? I've looked all over the web and short of taking the back off my laptop and making sure the adapter wires are all secure, because I'm scared to mess it up, I've done everything I could find. I'm at a total loss. :(

Ok mate now some system specs would be good the vey least the laptop model please as I think to start again it may need some updates for the net connection drivers cable or wifi. Plus we ned to consider the age of the machine. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html

I have this trouble from time to time and doing what you have to just resolves it but I am staying in a poor reception area. At home powering off the modem for a bout half a minute usually resolves it and keeps it that way for ages - usually.
just recheck all the cables and connections a sit could even be something simple as the line in to the home - if you are cabled up.

I've tried cycling the modem but that hasn't helped at all and the cables seem to be hooked up fine. I called my IP company and they said it was fine on their end, but the didnt check the wires coming into my apartment, at least I don't think they did anyways. Other computers in my apartment arent having any troubles at all, just mine. My specs are below and I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx Entertainment Notebook PC. It's only a few years old so not too bad I'm hoping. Thank you for trying to help me, I appreciate it!

I've updated the drivers before, but I gave it another shot and updated again just to make sure. Unfortunately it didn't work and I still got disconnected. :(

Try disabling PCIE power management as well as USB suspend power management on the power options. Check and see if you still get disconnections. If the disconnections ensue, just replace the card with Intel 7260AC and you shouldn't get disconnections anymore.

I disabled both the PCIE power management and USB suspend power management and after a few minutes got three disconnects in a row, so that's a no-go. So now my only other option is to replace my card? I'm sort of worried about messing around with my laptop in that way because I know absolutely zero about hardware and stuff. Would getting a wireless usb adapter be the same thing? I'd feel better about getting something like that then messing with wires and things.

Replacing the card is not hard usually just like changing a hard drive unless you are unlucky to have a machine that needs taking apart to replace so just what is the machine again>> I might be able to find something for you.

No mate it is a piece of cake look at this Youtube

this is if you are going to replace it with another - the small holder you can but cheap and have it already attached to the new drive.

In a lot of laptops the drive just pulls straight out of a fixed socket on the motherboard.

Caution Most of the laptop lids the crews cannot fall ot but some do so be careful not to drop any loose ones as they horrors to find. I do all my taking apart on top of a large white bath towel that is taped to the table top and dropped screws will not bounce anywhere - they stay where they fall:)

PS Sorry about the awful music the person plays during the video.

Thanks for the video, and the warning about the music! :p It doesn't look too hard at all, I'm still nervous about it, but since I use the net for work and school I have to do something. I'll give it a go and cross my fingers. One more question, does it matter what sort of card I get to replace mine? Does it have to be something specific and is there something I should look for to make sure that I wont be getting slow internet speeds? Thanks again for all your help, I appreciate it! :D

Now I am not sure of where that card actually sits but I shall have a dig around so don't go away - oh and if it is a video I'll try and find one without awful audio or is silent LOL!!

Ok sistek another video for you
this fellow does go on a bit but he does bring up another thought to me is it actually a Ralink adaptor.
Now good news is you can find out in some detail what there is inside your machine see this little ditty of mine

Using HW Info general components

DownloadHW Info and pick the right bit version - HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download - (or copy andpaste this site into the search bar) If you do not need the running informationin the smaller right hand panel close it. In the left hand window click on the+ for the individual device groupings and they will open out to the variouscomponents.

Go onopening out further until you get to the device itself. click on it and it willhighlight. In the right hand window there will be a very detailed descriptionof that device as in brand, speeds model number etc etc These are very detailedand are just what is needed for searching for drivers etc.

See my picfor an example - in this I have opened out one my components and then highlighted one of the one you need andyou can see the detail.
