Problems setting up Netgear N600 - Need help

Hello,

Just got a refurbed N600 (WNDR3400) and it came without the Install Wizard. I have a TP-Link modem that connects to the ADSL fine.

If I plug the PC and the modem RJ45 cables into two of the data ports of the N600 I can access the Internet just fine, but I cannot access the N600 firmware.

The suggested logins from the Netgear site all time out
http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com

If I plug the modem into the yellow port on the N600 it comes up with "Connecting through WAN Miniport (PPPOE) and just hangs. Eventually quits with an error 651

I did some searching and found one suggestion to use Telnet so I activated Telnet on this PC it and tried that in a command prompt with 192.168.1.1 and it timed out with an error "could not access via port 23."

I am at the end of my knowledge here.
