Hello,

I am having problems creating a network between 2 computers.

Win7 is running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.
Win8 is running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.

Both logged on as Administrator.

Win7 can read and write to files on Win8.
Win8 asks for user name and password to access Win7, I don't have a password set.

As far as I can see I have sharing on both computers.

Any suggestions please.

I have attached a document showing my setup.

You really should set up a Homegroup between those two machines, this will eliminate the password prompts and also secure the file shares from any machine that might connect to your network.

The password prompt will come up even if you don't have a password set.

Most likely password protected sharing is turned on in the Advanced Sharing Settings at the Network and Sharing Center on the Win7 machine, turning it off will most likely fix the password prompt problem.
