Hello,

I just bought myself a new Computer and also Windows 7 Home Premium.

I think its great and I wont go back to Vista or Xp, but..

every single .rar/.zip file I download is damaged/corrupted, even after I redownload it and i just cant find out why .. even the .rar recovery programm doesnt help

same problem with .iso files, when I download one and try to use it via daemon tools, it just tells me, that there is no cd in drive

anyone got a solution for this?

oh and i use the 64-bit versions of daemon tools/winrar/7zip as i have a 64-bit system

Try to disable any Download Accelerator and clear the file cache for your browser. That should solve your problems. Also try to save your files to another partition.

well...i know this is frustrating, but try to do a clean install of Windows 7 32bit. See if that solves the problem. Some applications have compatibility issues with Windows 7 64bit, so i think even you have a 64bit system, it will be better with Windows 7 32bit & 32bit Applications. Hope this helps you:) (correct me if i'm wrong)

Hello,

oh and i use the 64-bit versions of daemon tools/winrar/7zip as i have a 64-bit system

The only daemon tools I can find that is 64 bit is 4.09, released in 2007. DTLite V4.35.0068 is a 32bit app, but it works fine on Win7. I haven't had any problems. Perhaps it might be worth trying that also?

Winrar works fine - even the 32 bit version on x64.

I wouldn't do that. In most cases, there are x64 versions of programs, and often the x32 programs will work fine. If neither is the case, there are plenty of other programs that will work as they should.

I've occasionally had issues over the years with antivirus / firewall software hanging up larger downloads while they get scanned. Sometimes this means they end up timed out / incomplete, etc.

If you're *not* using a download manager for them, you may actually want to look into such a thing. At least that way if/when problems arise, you hopefully don't have to re-download the whole thing again.

Sometimes disabling antivirus / firewall for awhile solves the problem by itself, sometimes it doesn't.

guess im gonna try to look into it and look for any package losses, maybe its just the fault of the telekom as always ;-)
i will try a download manager also i think

any suggestions there?

hm... try downloading an archive file bigger than 70mb, but from an P2P application (like torrents maybe) and then see if the archive is corrupted. I'm curious if it's just a browser issue , data packet loss or other problem.

I think that the current version is 391. I didn't check what changes had been made, but it wouldn't hurt to download and install the new version regardless, just in case the old download file became corrupt before installing it.

I'm havign the same issue, rar and zip files not extracting. I downloaded the Eve online trial and it failed to install due to CRC error. This is a clean install of windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I also have issues extracting files I have off my second drive which I use to back up files. They worked perfectly under Windows XP now they are "corrupt".

Any help I would really appreciate it.
