Problems with MS Office E. 2007, iTunes, and disappearing shortcuts

I have Vista as an operating system. I mainly use Firefox to download software.

I try to install MS Office 2007 and it gives me Error 2203. I have cleaning up my system with ccleaner and that didn't help. I checked and windows installer is enabled and windows temp folder is set correctly. I have set System as having 'full control'. I have searched these forums and I haven't found a solution which works.

iTunes and Quicktime have the same error number 2203 and messages. I get a message saying, 'There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
AND
'The installer has encountered and unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2203."

There is also a problem with disappearing shortcuts. I download a program (such a ccleaner or yahoo messenger) and when I reboot I try to use the program and all the shortcuts are disabled. The message says that the program has been moved and the shortcuts are no longer valid.

Please help with any of these issues.

Open an elevated command prompt (right click command prompt and select Run as Administrator. Type "SFC /SCANNOW" without the quotation marks. This will check for system file errors and attempt to repair them.

It's possible the installation folder is having problems with permissions...
