Problems with new nvidia driver??

GT9600, thats a fairly older card yes?
260.XX is for the latest nVidia cards. You probably do not want to use it. I just went back to 197.XX from the 260.XX driver, for my GTX260.
Like suggested above, safe mode, uninstall driver in device manager, add/remove uninstall all nvidia software, driver sweeper, uninstall all nVidia software. reboot Install 1XX.XX series driver, reboot....

System restore??????????????????????

Quite possible Direct X 11 or latest PhysX not for your card.

Earlier discussion I had started over the 260.XX driver.

There is no restore point, and I tried with driver sweeper and older driver but nothing :(

That may be true, however DirectX 11 has nothing to do with the issue.

1- DirectX (DX) 11 is backward compatible,
2- DirectX 11 requires your video card (hardware) to be DX11 capable in order to use DX11.

3- DX11 is hardware based as well... meaning the video card must be programed to use DX11. Hench why only the newer cards are DX11 capable... ATI's 5000/6000 series, Nvidia's FEMI's (GTX 400 series). BTW this programming also holds true for DX10/10.1

4- Since your card doesn't support DX11, Windows will use the next DirectX mode the card is capable of, in this case that will be DX10.

You can see my explaination of this here.... Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues , item #6

Not sure whats going on but Windows 7 having DirectX 11 isn't the problem in this case.

Sorry

Sometimes you just need to begin again.
Turn on sys restore! It does take up drive space but its saved me effort alot of times.
