Problems with the sims 1 and windows 7

The sims installed onto my laptop fine, I managed to install all of the expansion packs that I own also, I am able to play the game but as soon as I try to save it it just crashes an shuts down the game?

Any ideas? I am playing the sims 1 on windows 7.
I have tried run as administrator but that hasn't made any difference

Have you tried to run the game in Windows XP compatibility mode?
