Problems with wireless network adapter and network connection driver

Hi,

So recently I have removed a nasty zeroaccess rootkit virus(es) from my laptop. My Windows Firewall, Defender and Updates would not work (still won't), my browser kept redirecting to unrelated websites, and I was just overall having a TON of irritating issues. I installed MalwareBytes and Zone Alarm in addition to my Microsoft Security Essentials and restarted my computer once - everything seemed fine. I went to delete a few programs from my computer via the control panel, just unneeded things like Canon software I don't even use anymore. My computer told me I needed to restart so I did, and when it turned back on, I suddenly had no more Internet access.

It registers that my Internet providers are being picked up on (as in, it says Silver Moose is emitting a signal yet I have "limited access") and all other devices using the network in my home are working just fine. I tried troubleshooting and it says that there are problems with the wireless network adapter and the driver for wireless network connection adapter.

I've read that removing a 0access will render someone Internet-less but some people have overcome this. However, every thread I've already taken a look at don't exactly fit with my problems/computer model, so I wanted to stay on the safe side and get help fitted exactly to me. I have Windows 7 64 bit., a Gateway model NV78. I don't know if my processor/Intel(R) Core details are needed. If so, I'll gladly provide them.

I ran ipconfig /all and was *about* to transfer a copy of it from my messed up computer to this one via a flash drive, but suddenly I've found that my computer doesn't recognize a flash drive at all anymore. So it's very very messed up indeed.

I would REALLY like to know what I can do to try and make this situation better, or if a system restore is the best option. I don't know how to use system restore or what it all does, so if you do recommend that can you please offer and explanation of the options it'll give me? Will it give a time period I want to backtrack to?

I feel really helpless here, so thanks a ton for any and all help!

First with this remove Zone alarm, while it use to be a great product, it cause more issues than it's worth these days.
Next, Start menu-> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click on command prompt and run as Administrator.

Type in netsh winsock reset and reboot, see if the combination of these will help.

Otherwise, system restore is very simple to use and will only affect programs installed, not your personal files. If this doesn't solve the issue pick a time before the rootkit, a couple weeks if possible, and just restore it. You can scroll through all the date to make note of any changes that will be made. Make sure to re-install your AV and Malwarebytes afterwards to keep you protected.

Also, I do not work for Malwarebytes, but $29 for a lifetime license and an active protection module is absolutely worth it.
