Product Key Mismatch

My neighbour asked me to look at his computer (a used Dell Optiplex 790 running Windows 7 Pro). Windows Update indicated that 177 downloads were available. On completion of the downloads the “This computer is not running genuine Windows” pop-up appeared. I ran MGADiag. The partial Windows Product Key in the report does not match the Product Key sticker on the case. I presume the mismatch is the reason for the Pop-up. Is it possible to correct the problem and validate the program? He bought the computer in "Good Faith", and i would like to help, if possible.

What I can find, on the Dell site, this probably came with Windows XP and if that is the case that is the reason the product keys do not match up.

Try Magical jelly bean to see if it gives you the complete product key.

Then again, if it was bought used from someone the product key may actually be pirated.

The Windows Product Key should NOT match the key on the sticker on the case. All Dell W7 pro installations use the same OEM_SLP key so that they don't have to enter a unique key for every computer that they build. If you every had to re-install Windows 7, you would use the key on the sticker on the case.

You appear to have a corrupt Control panel
Once that is cleared it should also lose the lost script and tampered files errors.

there is NOTHING wrong with the product key, and the Bios info confims it came with W7
