Programme confusion.

Hi Forum,
I am a "newbie" to 7 from Vista and was just looking over the programmes I have installed with a view to doing a clean-up. I was wondering if I am suffering with "bloatware" as my Laptop (HP) came with a lot of stuff on it most of which I never use and some of it consuming quite a bit of disc space. In question are :-

(1) Cyberlink material (DVD suite/Label Print/Power2Go)... consuming nearly 500mb and always looking for a payment to activate the wretched stuff. Can I uninstall this ?
(2) Quick Play Sling Player ........................................... 145mb.

What I do use are the following:
(1) HP Media Smart to play DVD (&BluRay)...... really excellent. But is it dependent on Cyberlink ?
(2) Windows Media Player...... duly loaded with codecs to play everything .
(3) Media Player Classic ....... a neat little alternative player.

What would your advice be regarding the matters raised. I do not wish to carry over any rubbish to Windows 7. Also, apart from what I mentioned that I use there is a lot of other HP "stuff" that I am not sure about. Help really appreciated.

Glad that you joined us. You will not be seeing as much of me as in Vista, since there are a lot more members, here, who can help. I just happened to see this and wanted to say hi.
As far at the bloat ware, you can use decrapifier to get rid of that stuff.

If it were me, I would wait a while, and just go to msconfig and remove all the bloatware from start up. It would then just take up space. Once that you know that it is not longer wanted, you can use decrapifier.
This how to see what you want to remove from startup. Just untick the ones that you do not want and then see how it goes. Do not put back half at a time, etc. That is to test for problems.

One program that is recommended is PC Decrapifier. I have read several acticles saying how good it is. But I have not used it myself because I always do clean install's of the OS myself.

Will be sorry not to have you on board. A few points. Decrapifier scares me but if you recommend it it must be safe. I have Revo Uninstaller. Would this not be just as good. Regarding Msconfig Start up ... 90% of it is disabled and all that is running are the following..Synaptics (Laptop touch pad), WMPNSCFG and Adobe Reader. No, it is that excess HP and Cyberlink stuff that is puzzling me. ??????

Its your computer and a new OS, do not use anything that you are uncomfortable with. So for the time being stay away from the decrapifier.
If you do not want to use msconfig, may I suggest winpatrol. Its easy to use and serves as a pseudo anti virus (must be used in addition to your anti virus). I would suggest that you download and enjoy its many features, including removing start up programs. I would not use revo. Winpatrol, I think, would be a better choice. Revo, is the best to remove programs.
