programs allready installed are asking to make changes to my computer

I've had this windows 7 laptop for about 6 months. My former laptop was a windows XP pentuim The reason I mentioning this is I don't know if this 'user account requests to make changes to my computer is something normal in windows 7, it never happened with my windows XP computer.

So I want to be clear here. Programs such as norton utilities, installed Feb 2, 2013. But If I want to run Norton utilities it will ask for user account control : Do you want the following program to make changes to your computer.

Is something wrong here?

Nope, just the way UAC works. Its actually a decent thing to have as it will tell you when anything is wanting to make changes to certain parts of your machine. (If you ever used win patrol (the Scotty Dog ) with xp its very close to that) If its something YOU are trying to do, agree to let it do its thing. If you're downloading something and something different wants to run, might be a good idea to say no.

Having said what a good thing it can be........ I hate those pop ups always asking permission to do what I already TOLD it to do, so I turned mine off. That is NOT recommended by the way.

Thanks for the reply. But the message I'm getting is the same message you would get if you were installing a program for the first time.

Not something you should not take lightly

Norton Utilities orignially Peter Norton product bought out by symantec the fortune 500 virus product company . No I think not. A registry fixer well norton utilities has a registry fixer.

But I'm still left with this mini installs each time I want to run norton utilities and other programs witch ask the same permissions.
