Programs and Features Windows 7

when going to programs and features i find that my programs do not populate.
is there another way to uninstall programs besides in programs and features?
also, is there a setting in the program that I need to correct?
i am new to this problem and would appreate your help.

Not that I am currently aware of. click programs and features, then click uninstall programs or features, and wait about 3 minutes (i know it may seem like a really long time, perhaps you could feed the dog, make lunch; in other words let it sit for a little bit). If it still wont pop up, then type cmd in the start menu and RIGHT click it, select run as administrator. type sfc /scannow and let it scan for as long as it needs (usually less than 5 minutes).
