Solved Programs being deleted from C:\Program Files (x86)

Well the problem does seem to have gone for good. Nothing else has disappeared since first encountering the issue several days ago and then removing the various Blacole Exploits from both my laptop and desktop with Microsoft Security Essentials. I must say, I'm mighty impressed with MSE! So thanks for the help everyone and I'll mark this thread as solved. If anything returns, I'll reopen this thread. :)

Just to let you know, it seems the programs that the exploit deleted didn't get completely deleted. At least, not my important data. When reinstalling them, my previous settings and data were intact. Example, my biggest fear was windows live mail. After the exploit had deleted the program, I sighed a relief when I found the folder still containing thousands of .eml files which hadn't been deleted and so I quickly copied the whole folder to another drive so I could import them later. The wlsetup-web.exe I had said that windows live mail was installed but I couldn't find it anywhere on the pc and didn't know how I would reinstall it. But I just downloaded a later version of wlsetup-web.exe with windows live mail 2011. This installed fine and to my delight, my account details were/are all still there, so are all my emails, and so are all my archived 1999 to 2009 emails that I imported from outlook express to windows live mail in 2009. So I didn't need to type in my account details again or reimport anything. It was all right there, all in place, just like nothing had changed. I just have a slightly newer looking live mail menu bar across the top. Amazing! :)

Happy to hear that :)

But as a precaution you may need do a necessary backup as you normally do. Learning that the problem might still be in latent state. We never know if it would happen again in the future.

Run WDO, Windows Defender Offline.

INSTALLATION:
You will need an Internet Connection.
Insert 512 mB (Microsoft’s 256 mB is no longer accurate) or larger USB stick into a usb port.
Run the downloaded program--mssstool64.exe or mssstool32.exe
NEXT button
Choose the option On a USB flash drive that is not password protected
NEXT button
NEXT button
.
The install program will format the usb stick using the NTFS format.
The install program will download about 210 mB.

Old thread but still useful!
I got a similar problem with Rollback RX's installation folder disappeared (not sure if it has a folder being a security package) and the icon in the system tray disappeared too.
But I will press about this software late on once I've dealt with Windows Defender Offline.

I'm not clear if I can use a usb hard drive or it must be a usb flash drive?
I run the application and it downloaded the files but then it stopped because Windows couldn't format the drive.
That is strange to me since both flash and hard drive have the same file systems.

Could you please help?

Very happy with this buid.
I struggled a lot to find all compatible parts since I wanted an Intel 1151 based motherboard so to be able to install Windows 7.
I chose this case because it has amazing air flow, it's sturdy and looks good.
The case included 1x 200mm front and 1x 120mm back fans, I added 1x 200mm on the top and 1x120 bottom fans and modded the panels with black stockings for women s
It seems that no one is looking at this thread anymore so should I make a new one?
