Programs won't download.

Greetings friends. Re: Windows 7. I have a program on my computer, ATT-RC Self Support Tool, and I cannot uninstall it normally. I understand than Revo tool will do the job but it won't download. I have tried other tools of the same nature and they too will not download.

When you say "download", do you mean that you can't get it to download from the internet or you can't install it?

When you say "download", do you mean that you can't get it to download from the internet or you can't install it?

From the Internet website.
Revo has a free 30 day trial period for the RevoPro, so I hit the Download Now box and it appears to go thru the download process showing the time, etc. and when it finishes it says it could not download it.

I would start scanning for malware if I couldn't download!
How are you trying to download - IE, Firefox, something else, ...?
Can you post a screen print of the error you see?

what is your internet speed? if it's too slow it may be difficult to download large files without the use of a downloader

There is no error posted. When I go to the Revo website, I simply hit the download button and I got a a screen where I hit run and it goes into the process of downloading and even shows the percentage of downloading done and when it hits the 100l percent, it says it could not be downloaded.

Slow or fast, it should still work. I once downloaded a file that was several hundred megabytes in size back when I had dial-up. Yeah it took a long time, but it worked.

Sorry for my short post. I assumed every one would understand.
McAfee can be your problem. It has caused so many problems many have just given up on it and chose another anti virus.

I tried Yahoo and MSN both. Same result. I think it might be a good time to re-install 7 and start from scratch.

At this point, I have to refer you again to Layback Bear's post about McAfee. Disable it entirely and then try again. If you're not sure how to disable it, then I recommend searching the internet for guides showing how to disable the version of McAfee that you have.

By the way, Yahoo isn't a browser. Did you mean Firefox?

Their many other sites, just Google Remove McAfee.

Disabling it will not be good enough. I recommend removing it and give MSE a try.

I know you're probably partial to McFee because it's money spent, but at least try to rule it out as a cause. I'd say to uninstall, check, then reinstall.

Problem is that I have it as part of my Cox internet and if I uninstall it, I may not get it back.

No, it's just software that's installed on your computer. If you uninstall it, then you can get it back. All you have to do is run the installer again (unless you deleted it), or go to Cox's website and get it back the same way you obtained it the first time.

The same is true with Comcast: they provided McAfee for free to their subscribers and they had an easy way to get McAfee back if you uninstalled it or upgraded to a new computer, etc. It's always there to download from their site should you ever need it, and Cox is no different. Except, Comcast switched to Norton.
