Prolific USB-To-Serial Driver

Win 7 Proff. 64 bit

So I just got a new SSD HD & my old mouse that is 9 PIN & uses a USB converter won't work on it when normally MS recognizes it whenever I unplug/replug it back in.

So the person helping me with my computer, went to find a driver (which I never needed before) & found this TERRIBLE driver - ser2pl64.sys

The driver proceeded to do the following to my NEW SSD:

1. No new software could be installed, it was taking forever. After we tried that twice, I tried to reboot & that's when everything went to hell.

2. Windows wouldn't go past the Windows logo screen & we tried numerous times.

3. I couldn't use my keyboard.

4. I couldn't use the regular backup mouse.

5. Windows recovery wouldn't work & we tried it 4 different ways.

6. We tried to reinstall Windows from CD Rom - couldn't.

7. We went into BIOS to boot the Win 7 CD off of the CD Rom & that didn't work even though it worked an hour or longer earlier.

Finally we got Win 7 onto a stick with my other computer & booted from there. It took us HOURS to get Windows to work again.

NUTS about this driver!!!
