When you try to install it manually and tell windows to search online for driver, it doesn't find it? For me it installed that way. Anyway, I zipped the driver ,you didn't say for what you are using it, so I don't know if it will work for you, but ,you can try to install manually it from this folder, just unzip

My 7 is working !!!!:D

thank you for uploading this file !:D

Welcome to Prolific

I installed it Win 7 x64 and in Virtual PC XP Mode without any problem.

The Prolific PL2303 v1210 driver on that page works fine for me, with Win7 64 bit.
SillyMan's link is the correct place to go, for a device using Prolific chipset.

Don't be fooled by the 'Junior' thing. I just don't post a lot.
I've been building/configuring/fault-finding PC's since Win3.11 and DOS6.2.2
I learned machine code on an 8086 & BASIC on a Commodore Pet, so I've been there from Early Days!
There's not much about PC's I'm unfamiliar with. I'm just here to find solutions to the problems Win7 presents. Not because I'm dumb or clueless.
Hi,
Software cannot communicate with the assigned com port even though W7 device manager says it is fully working. Tried changing the port number to COM2 (assigned COM5) but software cannot detect. The same cable worked in Vist and in W7 RC but a clean install of w7 won't allow the program to access the com port.
Tried a Virtual W2000 installation in VM but it seems the hardware is still not seen which points the problem at W7.
Any ideas

Hi,
I am using one of these in W7 and have no problems. The driver I am using is

New to the boards and trying to get a USB to serial driver installing on both Windows 7 and Vista for a device we use here at work. I've had no luck trying to get any of these installed as well as others I've found on the net. Attached are some screen shots for reference as these continuously come up no matter what I try.
I'm hoping it's something I'm doing wrong so I can finally get this to work. Any help is much appreciated.

EDIT: The Win7 system I'm working on is a 64-bit OS which I'm wondering may be part of the problem.

May be you don't have administrator privileges. Try to execute setup with "RUN AS".

The computer I was working on did not have admin rights, but I have them. Windows did prompt for my administration login but that was all.
I've successfully downloaded these on Windows XP systems (easy enough right?), but I'm still having trouble w/ Vista and Win7.

Thanks for the feedback, any other ideas?

I'm quite certain I've tried that one (almost every single one here and others I've found on the net). No matter what I've tried, after every attempted/failed installation (and removing of the drivers) I received the above messages on each one.

Still no luck on Win7 but seems like it's working on Vista [partially]. I'm wondering now if it's a confliction in the software of the device I'm trying to download the converter for.

After trying many drivers, I downloaded the zip mentioned in this link:
Akosta Innovations » Blog Archive » Problems with Prolific driver – Solution.

It seems to install without problem on my Toshiba NB200 running Win 7 Starter. But I have not attached the RS232/USB converter cable to a RS232 device yet, as a final test.

I gather the pl-2303 based devices are notorious for having driver problems.
