I currently have a radeon hd 6450. Tired of laggy games, im going to go all out and get a titan. Im going to get a 1000w psu. IM just scared of the driver issues. What exactly do you do when and before the installation of a new gpu? Thanks. I heard that you have to uninstall the current drivers, but wouldnt you be left with a black/ blank screen? Please help!

Nope you won't have a black screen ... your system will simply revert to a standard vga display then revert back to the resolution you want after the latest drivers are installed ;)

First off at your current resolution that card will be overkill also a 1000 watt PSU the same are you going to be running SLI or Crossfire? and purchasing a 1920/1080 monitor?

If not a good 650-700watt will be more then enough make sure to get one with the 80plus certified Platinum Gold Silver Bronze all are very good just the next levels up have a little more uhmp in them

I would probably stick with a AMD Gpu where is if you think you would have issues would eliminate that since you already run AMD HD7770 HD7870 or even the 7850 those 2 item's PSU /GPU should cost about 320.00 or a little under depending on where your shopping and what kind of offers because most of the 7 series cards from AMD come with like 3 free games which kinda is a eye catcher since there affiliated with steam now

Yea. 1000W is way overkill, unless its a cheap PSU in which case it may or may not be enough.
At any count, its not worth risking your entire system just to save a few bucks. Especially if investing in something like a 690.

Get a good quality PSU. As mentioned 650-750 will be plenty. Id go with a 750 for a 690, probably something like a Seasonic x750 or Corsair AX750.

A 690 is basically like running SLI. Its 2 GPUs on 1 physical card. So, as far as your motherboard is concerned all thats required is a single PCI-X x16 slot.

Another option is a Titan. About the same price, but its slightly weaker than a 690.

However, it has the advantage of being a single GPU. So, games that do not run well with a SLI/Dual GPU set up will run fine on a Titan.
Yes, you will sacrifice a bit of performance, but gain performance in certain games.

Overall, both are a solid choice and 2 of the most powerful GPu solutions for a single slot configuration.

If you go with something like a 680 you'd save a ton of money and be in very good shape as well. The 680 will do very well at 1080P. In this case a good 650W PSU will be more than enough.

been away from AMD/ATI to long to make a worthwhile recommendation on that side.

thanks for all the help guys. Yes. I realized 1000w psu is overkill. I'm probably going to get the titan, for shorter form factor and energy efficiency. Can any one state a good 750 w modular? I have a and Phenom X II 1075t if that helps.

where is your location if you have a frys or microcenter somewhere close they are having a sale on PSU you can purchase a 1000w corsair for 124.99 rebate of 10.00 at frys but like said before overkill there are same

look for a HX750 there about 89.00 bucks or a little cheaper and gold certified also TX750 as well

First off the 1000 watt isn't over kill. What that higher wattage will provide is cool energy efficient operation with tons of operational headroom and years of capacitor decay before becoming an issue. With luck it will also survive a mobo/system upgrade or three before needing replacement.......this is future proofing and IMHO one of the best places you can go overkill without any downside other than possibly a slightly higher cost. Tommy that Corsair for 125.00 is an excellent value and if you look at the difference in cost from a premium 600 or 700 watt and you divide 35.00 over 5-10 years......come on for the peace of mind......it's a no brainer !

that one is currently unavailable. I heard that corsairs professional series offers extra long cables fit full tower pcs. I might get a 1000w because of the long life time. Also can any one show me a cable kit like linnmeyerhere?

Amazon didn't have the x750 but the do have the x850:
Amazon.com: Seasonic 850W 80 Plus Gold ATX12V/EPS12V Power Supply - X-850 SS-850KM: Electronics

I did find a x750 through a 3rd party, but Im not sure how you feel about that. I never buy from 3rd with the exception of a few.

Then, theres the Corsair:
Amazon.com: Corsair Professional Series AX 750 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold (AX750): Electronics

Either of these are very good PSUs, and very efficient.
That would be my suggestions.

((FYI they are both essentially the same PSU. A Seasonic X series. The Corsair just has their name on it and some minor cosmetic differences))
