Purchasing help.

I've look all over the HP site and can't find specific info on the PSU. A quick call to HP with the serial number will confirm if the PSU is a std ATX12v style or other? I also couldn't find a clear picture of the PSU but I did find info on the rig and I would say I'm 70% sure it's a std. ATX PSU. Always best to confirm first because the manufacturers like to go non-standard so you have to keep coming back to them.

yes, lol. Its overkill at that rate. I'm concerned about space for psu. I have a hp 560z. What is the biggest dimensions a psu could work at?

dimensions of psu are 5.9w by 3.4 heigth by 5.5 depth. There is allowance, its not a tight squeeze I notice.

Is there anyway you can take a fairly clear picture of the inside of your case? Just take the side panel off and show us what you are working with.......if possible.

That looks to be a fine PSU and Silver rated. Any reason you've settled in on that and not a Seasonic or Corsair?

will a psu have mobo compatibility issues with teh connectors? It is a fairly recent hpe 560z with a foxconn 2A92. That really is the only major question. I have. Thanks for all the support guys!

No the connections fortunately are standardized and a premium PSU will have adapters for almost any configuration, proceed with confidence.

perfect, the other great feature will be the modular design so you can clean up un-needed cables and run the few you'll need in a manner that promotes good looks and clean air flow.

speaking of modular, are the plugs color coded, they all look like they have the same input into the psu but they all change to 20 pins, pcie, etc.

Not color coded to my understanding but I've never used the PSU brand your purchasing. Most are labeling the ends and they also have unique pin layouts so a good rule of thumb is to read the PSU manual and look very carefully at the cable, cable ends and the connections to the PSU. Also never force any of these connections. Connect the 20/24 pin and the mobo 12v cables first and then work from there with as few a cable as will connect all your devices. If you get tripped up then detailed pictures will help but I'm thinking you wont have any issues other than wanting to really fast and benefiting from slowing way down!

Just wait till you get the new modular PSU....so much cleaner looking and just handling it you'll feel the quality differences. In time I see a new case in your future with room behind the mobo so you can hide some of these power cords. Till then just make do with a wire routing that keeps what little air flow going through the case maximized. Don't expect to get the cleanest layout done the first time and don't expect to knock this out in 30 min. Leave your self lots of time and if need take pictures of all the connections. Look at all the cords and sort only the ones you need and leave the rest in the bag.

would a psu thats 6.5 inches long, 5.9 inches wide, and 3.4 inches high fit? it is right now 5.5 inches long, 5.9 inches wide, and 3.4 inches tall i think.

Place a tape from the case end to the first optical drive and then allow for the cables to make a turn out of the PSU you can look at mine for an idea.....I'm thinking it will work just fine.
