Hi, I have Vista and plan to get a netbook with 7 on.
My only issues are compatibility of software I use such as
Quark 4.11 and Adode Photoshop, either v5.5 or 7.

Will these load and run ok with 7?

thanks in advance for the replies
Steve

Hi there
in theory Photoshop 7 will run on a netbook -- even though it's much lighter on resources than CS3 / CS4 it's still an app that is resource intensive so - :

I wouldn't recommend running Photoshop (any release) on a netbook. This is one application that you DO need a powerful processor, decent memory and a lot of disk space for -- espcially if you process in RAW mode and use a lot of layering / filters etc etc.

Other than that the application will run on W7 just fine. -- Don't know about Quark as I've never tried it.

Cheers

I would not recommend either Quark or Adobe InDesign on a netbook. It would be even worse that running Photoshop (any version). With the low cost of a good laptop why would you go with a netbook (just a question).

I don't think Photoshop 5.5 or 7 will install on 64 bit Windows 7. You will likely have to use Win 7 32 bit unless you upgrade to Photoshop CS series.

I had no floppy for years so I copied the Quark 4.1 (portable) directory from 98 to XP, Vista and Win 7 and created a shortcut. Works fine on my 64 bit 7 as it did on the others.

I have CS2 on my laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium, i3, 4gb ram), never had any problems but as said, I wouldn't like to try it on a netbook.

Edit: May be wrong...
