Question about installing two versions of Office

I have 2 discs

1. Home and Student 2010
2. Basic Edition 2003

I currently have 2010 installed (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). But I also want Outlook. Apparently Outlook is included with the 2003 Edition.

I'm hesitant to try and install it from the disc because I don't want it to cause a conflict with 2010.

Is this safe to do? If I try to run the install from the 2003 disc, can I just install Outlook without any conflicts?

Running 2 versions of Office can sometimes be a problem. It would be best to uninstall your Office 2010 Home & Student, then install Office 2003 & when you have that running properly & have had all the updates installed, reinstall Office 2010 H & S.

Problems seem to be worse if the older version is installed after the newer version is why I have suggested the above.

Outlook 2003 will probably use Word 2003 as it's editor program, so if you want to be able to open Office 2003 files on Office 2010 you may need the Office compatibility program & you can download that from here.

You could try just installing Outlook 2003 & see if it works, but as I mentioned above Outlook 2003 will be looking for Word 2003 as it's editor & it apparently wont work with Word 2010. So it would be best to install the whole of Office 2003.

Keep in mind Office 2003 is no longer supported by Microsoft, so security is an issue & you could be more susceptible to malware & virus attack

Good luck & post back on your progress.
