Solved Question about upgrading ram memory

Hello, I have only 2GB RAM ATM, Kigston. I want to buy additional 2GB of ram. I wan't they to work in dual channel, so I was asking it will be good to buy another Kingston or some another firm ?

They both will work on 800Mhz...

I think it's always best to use matching RAM sticks, so yes, I'd stick with Kingston.

See what running benchmarks will do to ya.

If possible, duplicate the same make and model of RAM. Or better still, can the old and go with two new sticks of denser memory. I haven't priced DDR-2 but the rest of DRAM is going cheap these days. You can now get twice as much RAM in two sticks probably for less than you payed for your current RAM.

I was thinking about buying Kigston also. One guy offered me A-Data RAM so I asked him about this. He told me that sometimes and 2xKingston know to make problem,but sometimes 2 different firms know to work good.

Well yes, RAM is cheap atm. I was also thinking to buy one 4GB DIMM but I don't have so much money...
Price of 2GB is ~20 Euro, and 4GB is twice higher.

The honest truth is it sucks to have ddr2 right now.
ddr3 has gotten so cheap for anything 4gig or under a stick
8 gigs in a single stick still pushes premium pricing but everything else...

I'm actually upgrading an entire system just to get off ddr2 right now.

...speaking of which I may have a couple of gigs of ocz reaper free here soon.

Yes, true. DDR3 is very cheap ! Maybe the next my build will be with mobo that support DDR3 RAM Memory...

Your board supports 8GB but you're running x86 so you'll have about 3.17GB of usable memory by installing 2 x 2GB. I hardly think it's worth it now. You could just stick another 1GB stick in but it has to have the exact same timing parameters as your current modules. If it isn't, the BIOS will just split it off for hardware use or reduce all RAM to the lowest common speed. If you wanna play, ya gotta pay. I think you should just hold on to your cash and build a savings for the next build. Tough beans to chew but I think it's in your best interest.

actually my point was they make motherboards that support your chip and ddr3.
