question on how to download something

This is probably simple stuff for you but for me its new. I have a link to a book that I want to download. Can someone explain how to download it with simple step by step instructions.

Click on the link, should take you to a server where the book is available as a file. When you click on the file, your computer will ask you if you want to open or save the file. Choose a location to save, like Desktop so you can find it easily.

is the book in PDF format? if so, the reader should pop up a few icons when you move your mouse to the lower right of the document. one of them will look like a floppy disc. that should be the download button
