I'm just curious if the Windows 7 Ultimate keys that people are selling on eBay are legit or not. I see them ranging from $15 to $30.

Is there a way to verify a product key?

Probaby not legit. A member last week bought Key & DVD from ebay that Microsoft says was invalid :o Only Microsoft can verify a valid key ;) So it cannot be checked ahead of time :( Buyer Beware :o

Yes, it is too good to be true. I actually did a Google search and it looks like some people are selling keys from their MSDN subscription. While the key may work fine for some time, if MS finds out, then your key will be deactivated or something like that.

I almost bought 3. :o

What's TechNet subscription? (Googling now...)
A subscription that ranges from $250-$350 per year which gives you access to Windows clients (XP, Vista and Windows 7...multiple keys...all versions), Windows Servers (2003, 2008, R2 releases....multiple activation keys) and Office (2003, 2007,2010).

When you are planning to buy more than 1 copy of Windows, or Windows and Office for 1 computer, it's often cheaper to go the technet route.

For one computer? TechNet gives you 10 keys for operating systems, and Office. You can install them on 10 different computers, not just one. ;)

As for the OP. Does anyone really think they can buy a legit copy of Windows 7 for 15 to 30 bucks? Ummm......right! :roflmao:
