Hello,

I have 3 computers at home. Currently they have Windows XP installed and since Windows 10 is about to be released, I thought this is the best time to buy Win 7 and then upgrade within 2-3 months to Win 10.

Now here is the problem. I purchased a Windows 7 Ultimate DVD from a seller on ebay which is on it's way.

My questions are just for my peace of mind:-

1. Is there any way of checking if this is genuine before installing Windows?

2. If not, what method do I use to find out if it's all genuine and above board?

3. If once installed, is there anyway to extract the product key for backup?

4. If one of my computers broke down and I had to change components such as motherboard/hdd, how would I then deregister windows on that computer, so that it can be reactivated on a new one?

5. He said that if I end up installing it on more that 4 pc's, I'd have to do a Volume Re-Initialization....what is this?

Thank you

Volume Licenses CANNOT be sold in the normal way - and there is no such thing as an MAK License for as few as three machines (the minimum is 5)
Ultimate edition CANNOT have an MAK license - it's a Retail/OEM edition and doesn't have such a thing as a Volume License - EVER.

You have been sold a counterfeit (probably an MSDN type)

If you have installed it, please post an MGADiag report so we can check what you actually bought and offer proof to the vendor.

You should demand a refund, with threats of legal action by Trading Standards, yourself, and the Police - and be prepared to follow through!
