Solved quick question on imaging software

I'll be doing a clean reinstall and I want to make an image (possible multiple images) this time. I'll be using Macrium. I have a Drobo 5N that is part of my network. I have part of it setup as a backup for my Mac. I want the other part of it for backups of my Windows PC (there is plenty of room). Haven't used Macrium at all. Do I just show it where to save an image file to or is there something more?

Thank you. Wasn't sure if the network drive had to be formatted. I think it's setup as NTFS.

One more question.

Does the image have to be saved to the root of the HDD or can I save it (and multiple images) to a folder?

Never mind. I created a folder on the drive called Windows_7 (can't use spaces) and I was able to create an image file using Windows.
It'll probably be the same with Macrium.

Held back on reply as I do not actually use Macrium Reflect, but every Image recovery system I've used over my career has allowed multiple images to be stored and restored by choice of the correct file. There has to be a bootable media involved in most setups, some can actually use a recovery partition on the system drive, this is similar to the standard laptop recovery systems from OEM

Make sure you treat the images as backups and treat them as you would with Tapes or other media (keep copies in safe locations preferably off site) and keep them up to date, (include the boot device in this as systems evolve and the rarely can read the "next" version )

been using macrium for a decade...easy peasy...can save as file anywhere except system drive..on another partition, external drive, flash drive...it will have you make dvd rescue for when you wish to restore...again, very simple. put in rescue dvd, shut down, restart with dvd boot...navigate to image, restore....done
