Radeon HD 3850 AGP, driver doesn't work.

Hello. I have Radeon HD 3850 AGP and Win7, and I tried to do almost everything ...
I installed 9.12 drivers, 9.12 drivers with adding CL_91526 from the topic above), 9.11 drivers, 9.11 drivers with Hotfix (ATI), 9.11 drivers with adding CL_91526, manual driver install by right click . Absolutely no changes and everytime the same ... During and after installing (before reboot) no changes in Device Manager, having "ATI Radeon 3850 " (or "ATI Radeon 3800 series" or something like that...) with yellow triangle and Microsoft Co. driver. And after reboot no changes with it, an error message with something like "Driver didn't install correctly, please install proper driver" ( though in ATI install log you can see that everything was installed succesfully). So after reboot I still see my VGA like "ATI Radeon 3800 series" with Microsoft driver and of course no changes in monitor resolution and all. If I try to delete microsoft driver (and device), and then install radeon drivers , during installation I absolutely just don't have any VGA in Device manager. And after reboot Win7 "finds" VGA and install from internet microsoft driver, so I can see "ATI Radeon HD 3850 (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1)" in Device Manager.

I think that radeon drivers don't install (or don't install correctly), and Win7 ignores (or doesn't see) them.

Please help... Maybe I do something wrong ?...

(Asus P4S8X motherboard (latest bios), P4 2.4, 2.5 Gb, Win7 Ultimate )

Welcome to seven forums AngieM: Unfortunately you have a pretty old system a socket 478 board I would suggest first off to use 32 git seven and try the method in this thread to try and get your driver to install. Not every systems hardware is up to running windows seven http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/35299-install-agp-drivers-hd-3850-3650-2400-pro.html This is the only method I know of that will install the agp driver, Are you sure you are following the directions EXACTLY the way they are written and installing form device manager? If so then it is possible your system may just be to outdated to run win 7 Sorry to tell you but?. Fabe I wanted to add you might want to uninstall the driver then use driver sweeper to make sure all remnants of the previous driver are removerd before trying again http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

I've run the W7 Upgrade Advisor on several S478 similar systems and not encountered many issues, I'd be surprised if it's anything more than a driver mismatch issue... ;)

thefabe, thanks for the answer, of course my Win7 is 32-bit. And yes, I read this http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/35299-install-agp-drivers-hd-3850-3650-2400-pro.html thread very attentively and did everything like in guide. By the way, my hardware id's are

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9505&SUBSYS_95051002

like djeffree has (first page of thread), so I tried to change inf as torrentg said him at this post (http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-...drivers-hd-3850-3650-2400-pro.html#post357852) and it didn't work too...
Thanks for DriverSweeper, I'll try when I need it.

It seems that my problem is almost solved. This post http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-...vers-hd-3850-3650-2400-pro-10.html#post396002 of konstheo helped me. After sis AGP updated, win7 automatically downloaded and properly installed ATI driver (in driver properties ATI technologies), dated 17.08.2009, version 8.632.1.2000. It seems that it works normally (problem with Aero though).

So do I need to install 9.11 (or 9.12) driver ? Which one and should I still do it by torrentg guide ?

Problem with Aero: Aero works approximately 10 minutes after each start, and then turns off with error message.

Okay, here's what you need to do:

1. Search Google for a program called MobilityModder. Should be the first option. Download and install it.

2. Download whatever driver you want (recommend 9.12.) Press Install-BUT, let it extract to a folder wherever you want it (the first step)-remember this folder, usually C:/ATi/Support/(jumble of letters here)

3. Close the installation window when it comes up after the files are extracted.(DONT INSTALL close window)

4. Open Mobility Modder and direct it to the folder that the driver extracted it to. Press 'Modify'. Wait until it finishes.

5. Go to the folder, run the .exe, and install the driver as normal.

This is necessary because ATi drivers don't have compatibility for mobile graphics cards as standard. Mobility Modder gives them this compatibility.
