.................from 4.9 for the internal 64mb graphics to 4.6, AND has suggested turning Aero off !

Is this common ?
W764 all updated and current catalyst v12.6

I'm not bothered about the WEI, but I don't want it turning Aero off.

TIA

WEI often misreports the power of your components; it's not the be all end all benchmark of any kind whatsoever.

That being said, if you want to be sure you're getting what you deserve from your new graphics card, download GPUz and check out the vital statistics of the card, and compare it with the specifications of the card from an online source like AMD's page itself.

As long as it doesn't pop that stupid box up telling to switch off Aero.
Surely MS and AMD are aware of stuff like this ?

I mean, it's OK for me, as I know where to come for help, but what about someone who has just changed a video card over for the first time ?

If that popup bothers you and/or forces Aero off, you can force Aero back on with this following tutorial:-

Hack to Force Enable Aero in Windows 7 « My Digital Life

There's no reason why Windows would suggest disabling Aero on a modern DX11 card with the latest drivers installed.

Thanks for your help.

If it pops up again, I'll grab the screen to post.

Both you and I know that it's a modern DX11 card. WEI is giving it a 6.1 for gaming graphics, so I don't do why WEI is suggesting a 4.6 WEI desktop graphics score, and suggesting I turn Aero off.

That usually happens when your running low on memory, the 5450 does support aero.Use to use that card before i upgraded to a 6870.

I don't think it's that, as I have 8gb on the computer, and 1gb on the Radeon.

A graphics card memory leak is highly unlikely (especially with the latest drivers, and no intensive 3D applications running in the background) but possible, which in any case, system RAM (the 8 GBs) would then be utilised by the system to compensate for the lack of on board VRAM.

Well 2 really simple steps to take if you haven't:

1. Get the latest Catalyst driver from AMD and make sure Windows recognizes your GPU (everyone says get latest drivers for everything, but GPU drivers are actually really really important)
2. Go to search (in the start bar),type in "dxdiag" and click on the first result, then go to "Display 1" and what does it say under "name"? If it says something weird or generic please screendump it for us.

You can try another option which is quite a longshot, but if you go into your BIOS and disable your integrated graphics (you'll have to search to find the option to turn it off) try that and then run the WEI again. Also... this is a stupid question but what port is your monitor plugged into? Make sure it's in the card itself and not the VGA/HDMI/whatever port that's built-in to your motherboard.

Hopefully that helps.

Thanks.

Catalyst is the latest.
dxdiag reports all is fine and sees the card for Radeon HD5450
Onboard graphics were already disabled in the bios
Monitor is plugged into the card's dvi port.

dxdiag DID say Radeon's approx memory available 736mb instead of 1gb. Does that have any bearing on it ?
