Hello, I've got a new Radeon HD5870 Vapor-X by Sapphire and I have big problems with the newest drivers. When I install drivers from CD, version 9.12, everything is OK but I have grey stripes problem. When I try to install 10.1 or 10.1 hotfix, I have only black screen and after restar the the system crashs on the Windows logo. So I have to uninstall drivers via safe mode and use the 9.12 drivers. I have MB Asus P6T SE with Intel X58 chipset but on the MB Gigabyte DQ6 n-SLI with nVidia n680i chipset card works fine. Can you help me?

Did you install W7 yourself - are you new at installing OS's? Did you check your bios settings before installing eg sata configuration - do you have AHCI enabled? Is it the first card with the new mobo? Can I ask you one other question - how long is the card in the case not including the parts out the rear? Im considering buying one myself, and may have trouble fitting it in my case. Has it the power connectors on the back or the side? - There are 2 different models.

Welcome to Seven Forums. Are your chipset drivers up to date? Also you could look into a bios update. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx This is not going to be one of those easy fixes. Since it seems you have tried the things I would have suggested first. And since you have also seemingly eliminated the possibility of a bad card. Not to mention 56 views and no one seems to want to tackle this. Almost forgot would you please list your power supply make and model? Remember it's not the watts it's the amps on the 12v rail(s) so we need to find this out. If it's not up to the job it could be the problem. Thanks Fabe

Well then I would stick with the 9.12 driver till ATI releases their next driver. Obviously your card doesn't like the 10.1 driver , why well you'd have to ask ATI that. The 10.1 was supposed to fix problems with the 5 series cards but for reasons beyond my knowledge they haven't for you. Sorry I don't have a better answer or a solution. Except wait for the next driver release. did you check into your chipset drivers to make sure they are current or the bios lke I posted above? Fabe

The general rule for installing an OS from intel is to install the chipset drivers firstly - video card next - then all all other drivers - i generally do the sound card third myself. This varies if you have Raid or AHCI enabled, as you would have to install the matrix storage manager after the chipset drivers etc.

Try another video card with it to see - i wouldnt think a new board would be the fault.
