Radeon HD6770 wont POST, maybe a motherboard issue?

I have a custom built PC with an Asus M5A78L-MLX motherboard.

After installing a Sapphire Radeon HD6770 1 GB DDR5 DVI/ HDMI/ DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card 100328L my computer wouldn't even POST. If I remove the card then it works just fine. The video card had power and was pushed all the way into the PCI-Express slot. My BIOS should be up to date as of December-2011. I have not had any other video card installed on the computer before and have only used the motherboard's built in video capabilities in the past.

I was thinking it may be a conflict between the card and the motherboard and was wondering if there is anything I might do to resolve the issue. The video card's instructions mention that I should disable the motherboard's on-board graphics capability prior to installation but I cannot find anything in the mother board's manual about how to do that.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Have a look in your BIOS settings - I think this route should get you there:

Bios>Advanced>Chipset Configuration>Internal Graphics>Internal Graphics Mode>Disable

Your computer manual should tell you which key to press to get into the BIOS when you boot your computer.

No luck. When I went to Advanced>Chipset Config>Internal Graphics I didn't see Internal Graphics Mode. Istead, I saw the following options and settings:

Primary Video Controller: GFXO-GPP-IGFX-PCI
UMA Frame Controller: Auto
Surround View: Auto
Frame Buffer Location: Above 4G
