Rage3d.com attacked!

Not sure if this is "news" but the website rage3d.com was attacked by an outside intruder....

Rage3D.com is currently down for evaluation

On the evening of Thurs. March 11, Rage3D.com was compromised by an outside attacker. The intruder was able to access the website and the forums for a period of up to a few hours though it may have functionally been less.​

We were able to shut down the intruder’s access and minimize the damage to the site. However we will remain offline while we restore the site to a state that we are certain is free of any malicious content.​

We tentatively hope to be back online sometime this weekend

We recommend those of you registered in the Rage3D Forums change the password for the email address that you used to register in the Rage3D Forum.​

If you use the same password anywhere else in your online life, you should change it there as well.

We’ll have more information for you as we return the site to normal working order.​

Was wondering why I couldn't get into the site all day yesterday. For those that don't know, rage3d is an ATI video card website/forum.

Maybe I can use this article and incident to prove to one of my supervisors at work that there are real threats on the internet, and that offloading company data onto external harddrives and taking them home to your home PC doesn't make them safe.

Maybe I can use this article and incident to prove to one of my supervisors at work that there are real threats on the internet, and that offloading company data onto external harddrives and taking them home to your home PC doesn't make them safe.

In my job taking stuff from an office PC and working at home is a No No!. You start the work and finish it at home or work, not both. I constantly warn them about the dangers. I have enough problems with their surfing. I don't need their home infections as well!
